OUTFITS
We have a great Pinterest board that will give you an idea of what colours photograph well together. The best advice we can give about outfit selection would be to try to coordinate but that doesn’t mean “matching”.
Wearing the same colour in a different shade is actually more ideal than trying to find the exact colour! If one of you is wearing something with a lot of colour and pattern, sometimes it’s best to have the other person wear a neutral tone!
We ask that you keep away from bright colours like yellow, red and orange, large logos, spots, stripes and thongs also don't photograph well. And to make sure you are equal when it comes to how formal your attire is.
Keep jewellery to a minimum particularly additional rings and watches are a big no no!
Lastly, this is a tip that we highly recommend paying attention to is wear attire that is flattering to your figure and your skin tone. Wear something that you’re comfortable and confident in and you will love your photos.
PREPARING
We highly recommend sitting down together and going through a couple of your favourite engagement sessions prior to your own session. It may have been a while since you have looked through the blog and having a refresher is always a good idea.
What you see on the blog will give you a strong indication of what you are to expect during your session and the type of images we are aiming to capture. It will help if you are both on the same page when your session arrives.
HAIR, MAKEUP & RING
We recommend paying attention to your hair and makeup, it always helps to make your images look flawless! Some of our couples try to coordinate their hair and makeup trial the same day as the e-session, this is a great idea and will help you get a very visual understanding of how you will look in your photos on your wedding day. We also recommend giving your engagement ring a quick polish, even with some warm water and a non-abrasive cloth - it will make such a difference in your images - after all this is your engagement session and the ring is a big part of your story.
RELAX AND TRUST YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
We know this probably seems obvious, but just be yourself! We want to capture you as you are together. We always suggest having a 'loved up' day together, grab some lunch, get a drink, relax and do something you really enjoy. By the time we meet, you are both filled with love and excitement for each other and the session. We want to capture you on your best day! As you’re preparing for your engagement session, remember that we don’t expect you to know what to do. Relax, you’re going to be great at this!
FINAL NOTE!
We ask that you are on time for your session. What most couples don’t realise is that natural light photographers are 100% dependent on the sun and if their couples show up late, they will lose that amount of time during their session due to the lack of light. Now we realize that things happen beyond our control like massive amounts of traffic and accidents. If at all possible, try to be on time so that you don’t lose any of your shooting time and pretty light!
