I met Ashley, Mark & their two handsome little men last year when I was the wedding photographer for Ashley's sister Sara, you have probably already seen a lot of Sara & Mitch's wedding images throughout my website :) It was a beautiful spring wedding - it's on the blog go & check it out!
Maitland is so beautiful this time of year, most families don't want to get out of the house for a portrait session in the cooler months but the weather at the moment is perfect… not to mention the sunsets lately! I spent a beautiful warm Autumn afternoon down at the Walka Water Works with this gorgeous family! We started our session by feeding the ducks & turtles - the boys were having so much fun exploring the lake, waiting & watching for the turtles to surface to eat the bread we had thrown. We didn't have a plan, we just walked around the grounds, found beautiful light & snapped some beautiful photos!
The Walka Water Works was built in 1887 & is now a popular picnic & recreation area in Maitland. It is also steeped in history that gives it a special place in the Lower Hunter's heritage. The complex features an incredible pumphouse with striking chimney & ornate brickwork. It is actually one of the largest 19th Century industrial complexes left in the Hunter Valley! There's Picnic & BBQ facilities & a playground. They also have the cutest miniature railway that runs every sunday so if you a local or looking for a day trip with the family I would highly recommend the Walka Water Works!
