- FAQ -

We prefer the natural and candid style of photography, is this something you offer?

Yes! We are visual storytellers and draw inspiration from real life, emotions and genuine connections. Our goal is to document your wedding day as it unfolds in a natural and unobtrusive way particularly during your private moments. We are always on the lookout for those personalised details that you have lovingly included in your day because those are important too. When it comes to the couples portraits, we will place you in beautiful light, provide a little bit of direction to make you feel comfortable and relaxed allowing you to fall naturally into each other.

WHat do we get for our Investment?

We only take on a limited amount of wedding per year, this ensures each couple receives our best and that we stay true to ourselves as artists, creating unique and personal images and films for each couple. We take a very personal approach to all of our couples, we are regularly consulted on timing, lighting and locations. It is important for us to inspire you and have everything well planned out in advance, so that come your wedding day you can relax and trust us to capture the most beautiful moments we possibly can. After your wedding day, we pour over every detail, your images are carefully curated, edited and finished, your visual footage is sorted, and watched over and over again and then edited perfectly to the music. All of our digital images are loaded into a private online gallery where you can print freely through our online store, share with friends and family and download in hi-resolution as many times as you like.

How would you describe your style?

We believe there are many different aspects to a wedding day which require a few different styles of photography. We fuse a mixture of photojournalism, portraiture and editorial styles together depending on the time of day. During private moments, we never intrude and have more of a photojournalistic approach while during your bridal portraits we do a mixture of both portraiture and editorial.

Do you have insurance?

Yes! We have 20 million public liability insurance.

Yes, we take great care in the way we handle your files. All of our images are backed up in real time via dual memory cards and are further backed up via external hard drives after your wedding.

All of our packages include fully licensed music, unfortunately, that means we can not legally license your favourite song from the radio due to Australia copyright laws. We use a full service licensing platform which provides a highly curated selection of songs for filmmakers to use in media projects. We are experienced in selecting the best music to suit your story and can guide you through the process. We highly recommend reading through our music licensing blog which can be found here.

In the event that we unable to make it to your wedding, a suitable replacement will be found.

How much time do you recommend we allocate for bridal party photos?

We recommend between one hour and one and a half hours (plus travel time). We do work fast during this time to get you back to your guests and to enjoy the party.

We place a lot of emphasis on taking advantage of your complimentary engagement session if it is included in your collection, they are just so awesome! Plus, we will create some beautiful images that will last a lifetime and that you might like to use in the lead up to your wedding day i.e.: save the date etc. Our e-sessions take place between Nelson Bay and the Central Coast other locations which exceed one hour of Newcastle may incur an additional fee based on distance.

You can also read more about how to rock your e-session here

Our turnaround for your wedding is roughly 4-6 weeks and up to 8 weeks during peak wedding season. We also keep your wedding files for a full year after your wedding day.

Should we get a wedding album?

Heres the thing, the digital age is changing so fast! We are storing our most precious memories on tiny devices and in cloud-based storage which actually makes it less easily accessible and we run the risk of losing them for generations to come. Will you give your children and grandchildren the logins to cloud-based storage in your old age? Throughout history, photos and albums have served as an essential record of a family’s history. Nowhere else can a person find so many authentic photos of relatives and friends engaged in a day full of romance or significant events. By creating a wedding album and printing your photos, you will be contributing to your family history by ensuring that future generations have a tangible record of how their family came to be over time. While it may be hard to imagine great-grandchildren so far down the road, it is likely that they could one day have your album passed down into their hands. An album is a beautiful, tactile way to remember and share that special day. As a special gift from RLP, you will receive $200 off your fine art album if purchased when booking your wedding collection!

We love your work, but you are over our budget, can we ask for a discount?

Due to the sheer volume of bookings, we find we do not need to discount. If you ask for a discount, it becomes obvious to us that we are not a good match. We are interested in offering our clients with the best images, films, service and products, and that, like everything, comes at a price. We take great pride in the experience, the results and the service that we consistently offer to all of our valued clients who make this dream a reality.

We have quotes from other photographers/Videographers who’s pricing is cheaper. Why would this be?

It’s likely they will have less experience, lower quality equipment, or don’t plan on being in business for very long. We are committed to this for the long haul and have priced our collections at a price that reflects our experience, service, quality and time spent.

Photographers and videographers need a lot of the same shots, so communication is key. Not getting in each other's shots, letting the other person step in, and being able to know what the other person needs at that moment, all factor into the photos and video footage you’ll be receiving. As a husband and wife team who has worked together for years, this is easy for us! We aren’t out for ourselves and the shot we need, instead, we help each other get the best shots possible. Our work is cohesive, your photos and video footage will all have a similar aesthetic to them. We see light the same and shoot at similar creative angles, so this helps make your end products mesh well.

Great! We will send you a booking form and contract to review and complete. A $1000 non-refundable retainer is also due at the time of booking. This amount is deducted from the final balance and is non-refundable as it guarantees your wedding date. You can pay the balance in one go or in instalments as long as the final balance is paid in full no later than 30 days prior to your wedding day. We accept credit card or direct debit.

Quick note: we do ask that your main wedding venue and wedding date be secured prior to booking us.

Please understand, we can not 'pencil in' any wedding dates as we like to be fair to all couples and can not turn away enquires for the same date if you are not officially booked.
